Taraba Varsity SSANU Hails Gov. Kefas Over Appointment Of New Head Of Civil Service, Taraba State

 The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Taraba State University, has congratulated Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara on his appointment as the Head of Civil Service, Taraba State.

In a congratulatory message signed by the chairperson, Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka, the union commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his choice, describing the appointment as a step towards civil service reform.

“SSANU, Taraba State University, sincerely commends Governor Agbu Kefas for appointing Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara as the new Head of Civil Service, Taraba State, following the legitimate retirement of his predecessor, Mr. Tino Paul Maigida.

“To us, Dr. Kara’s appointment is a testament to Governor Kefas’ vision for comprehensive reform of the state’s civil service, which will redefine governance and place Taraba on the global map of administrative development.

“While we congratulate Dr. Ahmed Kara on his well-deserved appointment, we pray that God grants him wisdom to lead the Taraba State civil service to new heights, fulfilling the aspirations of civil servants and further advancing Governor Kefas’ transformational agenda for the state,” SSANU TSU stated.

Nigerian Tribune reports that Chief Gibon Timothy Kataps, the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), announced Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara’s appointment as the new Head of Civil Service, Taraba State, as approved by Governor Agbu Kefas, on Tuesday evening.

In a statement issued and signed by the SGS, Dr. Kara’s appointment followed the due retirement of his predecessor, Mr. Tino Paul Maigida.

Tribune also reports that until this appointment, Dr. Kara served as the Head of Government House Clinic, Jalingo, and was a physician to the governor from 1999 to 2015.

He also served as Chief Medical Officer at the Health Services Management Board and as Director of Hospital Services at the Ministry of Health, Taraba State, in 2016, before being appointed Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS). There, he oversaw the Home Affairs and Special Services Department before being posted to the Health Services Management Board as Permanent Secretary.

On December 6, 2024, Dr. Kara was assigned to supervise the newly established Ministry of Tertiary Education as Supervising Permanent Secretary before his recent appointment as the Head of Civil Service, Taraba State.
