As part of its efforts to address economic challenges and promote development, the government has launched a program to provide a monthly stipend of N50,000 to 10,000 youths in the country.

This initiative, announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, is part of President Bola Tinubu's broader strategy to alleviate hardships and foster growth in the Niger Delta.

The program is being implemented through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and is designed to improve the skills of the beneficiaries.

The stipend is set to last for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on the program's success.

In addition to this financial support, the government has also initiated several infrastructure projects in the region, including the commencement of the Lagos to Calabar coastal highway, which is expected to create thousands of jobs for local youths.

The NDDC has been working closely with various stakeholders, including the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and ensure the sustainability of youth development programs in the country.

This move is seen as a positive step towards addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by the Niger Delta region and is part of a broader commitment by the Federal Government to develop the area.
